Here is a brief update.

Thank you for your prayers. Here is a brief update on things:

Last month, I was able to attend a pastors conference. The primary speaker was Dr. David Sills, one of my professors at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I also wen to the same church as Dr. Sills while I was in Louisville. It was good to meet with him. He did a good job teaching the pastors there. I believe they learned a lot. There were pastors there from all over Peru and I got to meet many of them. Please pray that these pastors would lead the churches well.

Please continue to pray for the Conchucos Quechua team as we study the Quechua language. Many in the Conchucos Valley speak limited Spanish; so learning Quechua will be a tremendous benefit for ministering to the people here.

March 3-12, I will be travelling with John Grady, Brett Bredbenner, and Brian Pennington to southern Peru (Huacané on the north shore of Lake Titicaca) to participate in a time of training for some of the churches which John started while he lived there. Please pray that the churches and pastors will benefit from the training and grow to become strong healthy churches that purpose to glorify God, grow in Christlikeness, and plant other healthy churches.

There is a friend I have made (Juan) who has been out of town for the past few months. Before he left, I gave him a Bible which he said he would read. Please pray that as I continue to reach out to him when he returns, God will do a work in his life.

I have been studying with a man named Acasio. I have asked him several times if he knows people who would also be interested in studying Scripture. He says that he does and that he would like to start a group. But as of yet, he has not asked his friends if they would like study. Please pray that God would move in his heart to asks his friends and that his friends would be willing to study with him and me.

There have also been several people with whom I have been speaking and telling stories from Scripture. I have asked if they want to have a specific time to study, but they have been hesitant to say when they would like to study. Please pray that God would bless that time I do spend with them and move them to want to study the Bible more intentionally and more focused and come to understand and believe the gospel.

I have been trying to build relationships with some mototaxi drivers while they are on their down time in the afternoon. I have shared with them the gospel and and some Bible stories which they seem to enjoy. Please pray that God will open up their heart to receive the gospel.

I am also trying to help prepare for a team to come in June from my home church, Grace Life Church. Please pray for me as I prepare how to best use the team for the work here in Pomabamba and that God will prepare the hearts of those whom he puts on the team to be useful servants in the Lord's work.

Please pray that a solid work will be started in the town of Pomabamba. There have been several groups started in the outlining communities by the Fleetwoods. (And do pray for them as well, that they would become strong, healthy churches). But it has been dificult to get something started in town. But that which is impossible with men is possible with God. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation. The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is powerful to save. If we keep on proclaiming the gospel and continue beseeching the Lord to do a supernatural work in the hearts of the people here, God will call out for himself a church. So keep on praying!

A few mission quotes:

God uses men who are weak and feeble enough to lean on Him.
— J. Hudson Taylor

Missions is the overflow of our delight in God because missions is the overflow of God's delight in being God.
— John Piper

A few mission Scripture passages:

Psalm 22:27-28

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD,
and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.
For kingship belongs to the LORD, and he rules over the nations.

Micah 4:1-2

It shall come to pass in the latter days
that the mountain of the house of the LORD
shall be established as the highest of the mountains,
and it shall be lifted up above the hills.
And peoples shall flow to it,
and many nations shall come, and say:
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD,
to the house of the God of Jacob,
that he may teach us his ways
and that we may walk in his paths.”
