Quick update.

Hello,

I wanted to do a quick update. Sercelino, one of the Wounaan believers, has had a threat on his life again. This happened about a year ago, and the threat subsided. When it happened last year, we were able to temporarily move him to a safer location outside of Bogota.

This year, we have helped him obtain police protection. He is home with his family. The police are monitoring the situation. Let's pray that these threats prove empty. I will keep you posted on this situation.

In a few weeks, I'll be visiting my family in the US to spend Christmas with them. I'll be in the States for a little over a week.  I'll try to put out an update before I leave.

Greetings! Thank you for praying for me and the work that god is doing in Colombia.  Here's another update.

A few weeks ago I went to a small town in town in the northwest part of the country where I participated in a training event for indigenous leaders from all over the country. It was a story-based training addressing animism and the doctrine of the church.  Regarding animism, we looked at seven different stories from the Bible that address the issue. Regarding the doctrine of the church, we discussed leadership in the church (pastors and deacons) and the ordinances (baptism and the Lord's Supper).  Churches are being planted throughout the people groups of Colombia. But many more groups are still unreached. Please pray that our Lord will build his church among the peoples of Colombia, that many churches will be planted, and that believers will grow in Christ.

The day I was traveling back to Colombia, the Katío family I have been visiting returned to western Colombia where they are from. Please pray that the gospel we have given to them will take root and be fruitful.

Travels…

Greetings! Thank you for your prayers. I would like to write a brief update.

The past few weeks, I have been traveling to a few other areas of Colombia.  I spent two weeks in Pereira for some meetings with other IMB missionaries working with indigenous in Colombia and Perú.  After these meetings, all of the missionaries in Colombia had a prayer retreat. It was a great time of fellowship and prayer.

I also traveled to Medellín.  As I mentioned in my last update, a group of Wounaan believers from Panamá went to a couple of towns in western Colombia in order to evangelize among the Wounaan there. I was able to come to Medellín on their way back to Panamá in order to hear able their time in Colombia. I would like to have these Wounaan believers in Panamá connect with the believers I know in Colombia so that together they may reach their own people with the gospel.

Also, continue to pray as we visit and teach the Word with the Wounaan. Pray that they might be discipled and mobilized to take the gospel to their own people in western Colombia.

Quick update for the beginning of a new year

Thank you for your prayers!

Well, I had a great time visiting the States for Christmas. It was good to spend some time with my family. But now I’m back in Colombia where I continue to work with the Wounaan and Katío.

While I was in the States, the Katío family has moved to another area of the city. They moved in with another Katío family. Please continue to pray for us as we share the Word of God with them. One issue that makes this difficult is that they speak limited Spanish. So pray the the Word may be clearly communicated and understood.

Also, continue to pray as we visit and teach the Word with the Wounaan. Pray that they might be discipled and mobilized to take the gospel to their own people in western Colombia. In February and March, a group of Wounaan believers in Panamá are planning an evangelistic trip to some Wounaan communities in western Colombia. I won’t be able to go with them, but I plan to try to visit with them at some point while they’re in Colombia. I would like to be able to connect the Wounaan believers in Bogotá with the Wounaan in Panamá to help them to reach their own people.

In a week, I will be traveling to Pereira, another city in Colombia for some meetings. Part of this trip will include a prayer retreat for all of the IMB missionaries in Colombia. Pray that it will be a good time of refreshing.

Again, thank you for your prayers.

“Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
