Mitú

Hello everyone! Thank you for your prayers.  Here's a quick update.

In my previous post, I mentioned that I was going to travel to Mitú, a town in eastern Colombia near the border with Brasil. And now, I have been there and made it back. I went there with two Colombian believers and another IMB missionary who lives in another part of Colombia. The trip went really well. It was good being able to see more of Colombia and be away from the big city for a while. Mitú is a much smaller town, and since it's in the jungle, it's very hot and humid.

While there, we visited an indigenous believer who lives just outside of town. With him and his family and friends, we taught the story of creation. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to get to know them. We also did a few activities for the children in the community.

We also visited a family that lives on the other side of the river. There is no bridge, so we crossed by canoe. We were able to share several stories with them—the story of the paralytic and the calling of Matthew in Luke 5. We taught on how Jesus has authority to forgive sin and calls sinners to repentance.

We also had the opportunity to visit with another missionary family from another organization who is working in the area. He has been able to do a good bit of research in the area. There are a about six unreached people groups there. So the need is great.

We have the opportunity to return to Mitú in June. On that trip, we will be visiting the same families we did on this trip. We also plan to visit some of the nearby communities. Please pray that the trip in June will be fruitful.

Matthew 9:37-38
Then He said to His disciples,
The harvest is plentiful,
but the workers are few.
Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest
to send out workers into His harvest.”
