May 2025 Update

Greetings! I hope each of you is doing well. Thank you for your support for me as you pray for the work God is doing among the displaced indigenous peoples in Bogota. Continue to pray that the Word of Christ would speed ahead and be honored and that the gospel would advance unhindered both here in Colombia and also among all peoples. Pray that Christ and Him crucified would be clearly and boldly proclaimed to all peoples, that God would open hearts to receive the Word, that the Word would take root and be fruitful, that believers would be discipled, and that many healthy churches would be established. Pray that the Lord of the harvest would send out laborers. And as we go to the nations, our Lord has promised to be with us always.

My work in Colombia focuses on the displaced indigenous peoples in Bogota. There are thousands of

displaced indigenous in Bogota living in parks and shelters. I visit the various locations every week to

evangelize and share Bible stories. There are Colombian believers who come with me in these visits.

Recently, over 500 indigenous moved from one shelter to a city park. The park has barriers around it

with limited entrance. I have been able to go in twice now. Pray that I can continue to have access.

During our visits, we also help with a few material needs, but our focus is always on sowing the Word.

This past week, we had a small team from Georgia come down to see the indigenous work. They helped

with telling Bible stories and provided small hygiene kits. It was a blessing to have them down here for

the week.

One of the difficulties when working with the displaced indigenous is the language barrier. Their level of

Spanish is often limited. So I have begun learning one of the indigenous languages. It is definitely a challenge and will not be easy. Pray that I will learn the language well so that I can better communicate the gospel to the indigenous people.

Please continue to pray for some of my other visits as well. Pray for my visits with “Silas” and the Wounaan as we read Scripture together and pray together. Pray for the small Wounaan church, that it would grow and be able to reach the other Wounaan in Bogota. Pray for my visits with “Mike” and his family. Pray that the Lord would open his heart to receive the Word.

This month, my visit was successfully renewed for one year. And now, I am waiting on my Colombian ID card. Pray that other missionaries here who are in the visa process now, or will soon be, would be able to obtain their visas. There were changes in the whole process a few years ago, and it has become more difficult. But we continue to trust God in this.

For one week in June, I have some meetings in Panama. Pray that those meetings will be fruitful, that I will be able to catch up with people I haven’t seen in a while, and that it will be a time of refreshment.

Pray also that more national believers and churches would get involved in the indigenous work. The need is great. It’s a big task. So ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers. Pray that those who do join in on the work would be trained for indigenous work. Again, thank you for all your prays and support. It really is crucial to the work. May the grace of our Lord be with you all.

The reason we take the gospel of Jesus to the nations is that there is no name but the name of Jesus by which we must be saved. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one come to the Father except through Him. For salvation, there is no one else, no other way, no other hope, and no other refuge. Salvation is only found through Christ. It is in Christ that we have the promise of mercy and forgiveness. It is Christ who lived a perfect life for us, who died on the cross for our sins, who rose again the third day, and who now sits on His throne in heaven. And everyone who trusts and rests in Christ for salvation will be saved. There is only one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus. Salvation is given exclusively to those who embrace Jesus by faith. There is no other way.

Many people are not trusting in Christ. They are hoping in all sorts of things and trusting other names besides the name of Jesus. God’s Word is clear: Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Yet many have never heard of Jesus and what He has done for us in the gospel. How, then, can they call upon Him whom they have not heard? There must be a preacher, someone to boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus to them. Therefore, preachers must go forth the unreached. Missionaries must be sent. May every knee bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. Salvation is of the Lord. Salvation is by faith alone through Christ alone. May we, therefore, be faithful to preach the name of Christ for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.
