July 2025 Update

Greetings! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer. Thank you for all your prayers and support. Pray is a vital part of the missionary task. So thank you for praying for the displaced indigenous work in Bogota. Please continue to pray that the Word of Christ would speed ahead and be honored and that the gospel of our Lord would advance throughout the world unhindered. Missionary work is hard. And our Lord has promised to be with us as we go to the nations. We trust that God will use His Word to change lives as we boldly proclaim the gospel.

My work in Colombia focuses on the displaced indigenous peoples in Bogota. There are thousands of

displaced indigenous living in parks and shelters throughout the city, so I visit them in these parks and

shelters to evangelize and tell Bible stories. I often bring diapers or some food to hand out. There are

many material needs among them. But their primary need is the gospel. And we seek to give them the

hope of the gospel as we visit.

In July, two teams from the States came down to help with the indigenous work. One of the teams included doctors that provided basic medical exams for the indigenous. The other team did some evangelism. There were also several college students in Bogota in June and July who helped out with the indigenous work. Please pray that all of the work they provided will bear lasting fruit. In one park, we have had difficulty gaining entrance. But since last week, we have been able to go in without any issues. So pray that that will continue to be the case.

Though most of my work focuses on the indigenous in the parks and shelter, some of my time is spent

visiting with a few others. I have been visiting with a Puinave man “Mike” and his family each week.

They live in a very modest home on the edge of the city. I have been able to study Scripture with his and

pray with him. He is eager to learn more. Pray for him and his family.

I also visit with “Silas” a Wounaan man. He and his family are believers. Silas has been having several medical issues, so pray for him. There is a small Wounaan church in Bogota, but many Wounaan still

need to be reached with the gospel. Pray for the Wounaan church that they would reach their own

people both in Bogota and in the territory where they are from.

Please pray for local churches here in Bogota that they would see the need among the displaced indigenous. We are beginning to see more local national believers get involved. We would like to see different churches become consistently involved. It’s easy to get help when there’s a single event, but the indigenous work needs consistent weekly work. So ask the Lord of the Harvest to send out more workers.

Continue to pray for me as I learn one of the indigenous languages. This month I got a new language helper who is really great. Part of my language study includes learning Bible stories. Please pray that I will learn the language well, that I will be able to communicate that gospel in the heart language of the people. I still have a long way to go, but the time and effort will be worth it.

Again, thank you for your prayers and support. It’s vital to the work. May each of you have a blessed day.

These verses are super important. They describe for us what God is like. These verses are quoted from and alluded to throughout the Old Testament. Multiple psalms use this description to praise and worship God and to remind people who God is. Nehemiah and Joel use these verses. Jonah quotes from these verses after Nineveh repents and God spares them from judgment. The Lord’s proclamation in these verses became a confessional statement of who God is and what He is like. It is a bold proclamation of the gracious and merciful character of God. That proclamation is at the heart of the gospel we take to the nations.

We worship a compassionate God who is full of mercy and abounding in love. We worship and proclaim a God who forgives sins. All of that mercy and grace flows from the Son, Christ Jesus who is full of grace and truth who throughout His ministry showed astounding mercy and compassion to people. These verses also tell us that God is just; He will not leave the guilty unpunished. There is a day of judgment coming. But there is overwhelming mercy and grace to all who cry out to Him, “Lord, have mercy on me a sinner!” So as we go to the nations, we must proclaim God’s justice and warn of divine judgment, but we also preach His mercy, grace, and compassion for there is forgiveness through His Son and His vicarious death on the cross for our sins.
