July Update

Hello everyone!

Thank you for your prayers. Here's an update. I am continuing to meet several times a week with some of the Chamí believers. They have had a lot of meetings lately relating to the shelter where they live, so finding time to meet with them while they are free has been difficult. But I have had several good studies with them. Also, Alex Montgomery a new missionary who has recently arrived in Bogota has been accompanying me downtown when he is free to do so.

Two weeks ago I went to Currulao, a small town in northwest Colombia. We had a conference for a group of indigenous church leaders. Several indigenous groups were represented.  We taught a series of Bible stories and helped them to translate the Spanish into their indigenous languages. I worked with the Chamí guys. (The guys I work with in downtown Bogota are Chamí). Jorge, one of the guys with whom I worked at this meeting has already started a few study groups back in his home town. Here is a picture of the group from the conference in Currulao:

And here is a picture of me with some of the Chamí guys from the meeting:

Last week, I went to Lima, Peru to meet with some of the other research guys to work through various means by which we can conduct the necessary research to collect people group data for Colombia. I enjoyed the meeting and the opportunity to visit Lima again.

Here are some things for which to pray:
• That I will be able to engage the displaced indigenous downtown with the gospel and disciple new believers.
• That the leaders from the meeting in Currulao would be faithful to reach out to those in their towns with the gospel.
• That I will be able to do the much needed research of the indigenous groups in Colombia.
• That I will be devoted to the Word, prayer, and the tasks at hand and grow closer to the Lord every day.
• That God's Name would be great among all peoples as the gospel is proclaimed to the ends of the earth.

Again, thank you for praying.
